Formed in 2006 under less than common circumstances, this perfectly imperfect band consists of Singer/Songwriter/Production partners tRESAjERELL and K’Monte`.

Upon overhearing Her sing during a songwriting session she was having with a group of friends in a Houston café, He instantly and unapologetically interrupted them and invited the singer to “be in a Rock band.” This rude introduction lead to an infamous Brother/Sister bond between the two and an outpour of artistry that eventually took the form of “Rezurekshun,” their debut album.

They come from drastically different musical backgrounds, experiences, and approaches. But the spiritual alignment of the duo allows them to see the beauty in their musical differences and infuse this positive tension into their works. Those fortunate enough to witness any of their studio sessions will attest to their playfully combative style of creating music together. The result: authentic, sensual, beautifully ugly songs that inspire us all to embrace our inner KUUMBA FREEQUE.

Who is K'Monte'? (cont.)

However, undeniably, the left & right hands of this consummate artist’s body of work is FUNK & SOUL. He draws inspiration for the movement of these “hands” from his pounding heart of a ROCK star. Making his independent debut with the release of “Painting Piktures” in 2004, he boldly blurred the musical boundaries of the time, and quickly gained iconic prominence in a hungry Houston music scene.

Both CEO and Artist with KOZMIK OASIS RECORDINGS, K’Monte` has most recently been creating quite a stir as producer & drummer of the Funk Rock duo KUUMBA FREEQUE, with “Little Sister” and label mate tRESA jERELL as the lead singer. His highly anticipated second solo project, “Asylum,” is scheduled for release in the Summer of 2012.

Who is tRESA jERELL? (cont.)

Growing up in DeSoto, TX, just outside of Dallas, the move to Houston came quite naturally, as did her relationship with KOZMIK OASIS Artist & CEO K’Monte`. Instantly “Brother & Sister,” the two became musically inseparable and eventually started KUUMBA FREEQUE together. Her amazing ability to capture raw emotion in the studio and then transfer that emotion onto a vocal track inspired “Big Brother” to sign the singer once again, only this time, as a solo artist. Also a gifted songwriter, as seen in her work with KUUMBA FREEQUE, tRESA jERELL is currently in the studio creating her first solo project, “Kissing tRESA,” scheduled for release in the Fall of 2012.
